MVCSD Office of School Improvement to highlight dozens of local organizations at upcoming fair
MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. (April 17, 2018) – The Mount Vernon City School District Office of Improvement will host a community resource fair on Saturday, April 21, 2018. The fair will be held in the A.B. Davis Middle School cafeteria, 350 Gramatan Avenue, Mount Vernon, N.Y. from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Members of the Mount Vernon community and their families are invited to attend this exciting and educational event.
“This fair serves two important purposes. It provides Mount Vernon residents with an opportunity to learn about the valuable resources available to them, and it showcases local businesses that are working hard to help the community,” said Dr. Kenneth R. Hamilton, Mount Vernon City School District Superintendent of Schools.
Families can learn about summer job opportunities for high school students, as well as summer camps for students in kindergarten through Grade 6. There will also be free health screenings, parent workshops, mobile health van and related services.
Dozens of local organizations will be on-site, including: The Mount Vernon Youth Bureau, the Mount Vernon Dept. of Recreation, Big Brothers and Sisters Program- Family Services of Westchester, and more.
The Student Assistance Services Corporation and the Westchester Coalition for Drug and Alcohol-Free Youth will host an interactive presentation for parents. ‘Hidden in Plain Sight’ will test parents’ knowledge and strengthen their observational skills as they search for hidden references and paraphernalia indicating drug and alcohol use in teens.
Free parking and refreshments will be available.
