Spring Lake Hope Foundation Announces 2026 “Courage in Action” Fundraiser to Support Accessibility Projects for Two Local Children
June 10 Community Event at The Barn in Middletown
Raises Funds for a Wheelchair-Accessible Van and Critical Home Renovations
MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. (May 21, 2026) – Spring Lake Hope Foundation will host its fourth annual “Courage in Action” fundraiser on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 5 to 9 p.m. at The Barn in Middletown, N.Y. Proceeds from the event will support accessibility projects for two Hudson Valley children with mobility-related needs, including a wheelchair-accessible van for one child and a wheelchair-accessible bedroom and bathroom renovation for another child living in the Town of Montgomery.
This year’s fundraiser will support Luke Henry, an 8-year-old living with the rare neurological disorder Pontocerebellar Hypoplasia, and Aubree Spoor, a 10-year-old living with complications from a stroke she suffered before birth, including mobility and medical challenges that require ongoing care and specialized equipment.
Luke uses a wheelchair, depends on a feeding tube for nutrition and requires extensive medical equipment throughout his family’s home. The planned renovations would help create an accessible bedroom and bathroom to improve his safety, comfort and independence as he grows older.
Aubree, who receives ongoing medical treatment and relies on a wheelchair for mobility, would benefit from a wheelchair-accessible vehicle to help ease transportation to frequent medical appointments, therapies and daily activities.
The Foundation began fundraising efforts for these projects during last year’s event and has continued working to secure additional funding and identify a licensed general contractor for the renovation project.
“We remain focused on completing both projects and continuing to build community support around these efforts,” said Kevin O’Reilly, board advisor and volunteer for the Spring Lake Hope Foundation and President and CEO of Satin Fine Foods, Inc. “The work involved is extensive, and additional funding and contractor participation are still needed.”
Now in its fourth year, the “Courage in Action” fundraiser supports the Foundation’s broader mission of assisting children with rare illnesses and special needs through medical and accessibility-related initiatives. The fundraiser will include a barbeque dinner, cash bar, silent auction and live music by Rob Cannillo and Susan.
“The kindness and dedication have made a meaningful difference, and we truly appreciate everything that has been done for our family,” said the Mendoza family, whose family previously received support through the Foundation’s efforts.
