WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. – April 20, 2026 – Abilities First proudly hosted its annual Abilities in Motion Talent Show recently at the Culinary Institute of America, bringing together a vibrant celebration of creativity, inclusion and the talents of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
A total of 57 performers took the Marriott Pavilion stage in Hyde Park as part of 45 acts, including 40 individual acts and five group performances. They showcased a wide range of talents from music and dance to creative expression. Performers during the April 9 event included participants from Abilities First Day Habilitation and Employment programs, each demonstrating confidence, individuality and the power of self-expression.
“Abilities in Motion is more than a talent show. It’s a powerful reminder of what is possible when individuals are given the opportunity to shine,” said Jeffery Fox, Ph.D., President & CEO, Abilities First, Inc. “We are incredibly proud of our performers and grateful to our community for showing up in such a meaningful way.”
The energy of the event was brought to life by three announcers, with Luke making a memorable entrance by riding across the stage to introduce acts and engage the audience. Behind the scenes, the event was supported by an incredible team, including six Abilities First Without Walls (WOW) staff members and approximately 10 staff members from other Abilities First locations. They helped ensure performers moved seamlessly to and from the stage. Two WOW staff members also worked alongside CIA staff in the music and video booth, helping synchronize performances and keep the show running smoothly.
This latest edition of this annual event welcomed an enthusiastic audience of family members, friends, Abilities First & Foundation for Abilities First NY Board of Directors members and community partners. These included representatives from The Arc and Taconic Day Programs in the audience.
Their presence helped create an uplifting and supportive environment that celebrated every performer. The Abilities in Motion Talent Show continues to be a highlight for Abilities First programs, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to fostering independence, confidence and meaningful projects and community connections for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
